Phish fans showed up in full force.
The legendary jam band just won the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote, securing over 329,000 votes and beating runner-up Bad Company by nearly 50,000.
Now the big question: Will they actually be inducted?
We’ll find out Sunday, April 27, when Ryan Seacrest announces the official Rock Hall Class of 2025 live on American Idol. The episode will also feature Rock Hall-themed performances and a mentoring appearance by James Taylor.
Phish’s massive fan base pushed them to the top in a close race. Here’s how the Fan Vote Top 5 finished:
- Phish – 329K+
- Bad Company – 280,725
- Billy Idol – 260K
- Cyndi Lauper – nearly 237K
- Joe Cocker – 233K
These top five fan picks will now be added to over 1,200 ballots cast by industry professionals, historians, and artists to determine who gets in.
Soundgarden just missed the cutoff—falling short by about 300 votes behind Joe Cocker.
Other fan favorites included Chubby Checker, The Black Crowes, Mariah Carey, Joy Division and New Order, The White Stripes, OutKast, Oasis, and Maná.
Despite never landing a Hot 100 hit and only earning one Grammy nomination, Phish is no underdog. Their live shows are legendary, and they’ve dropped 38 albums on the Billboard 200—with three making the Top 10.
Their Adult Alternative chart hits include:
- “Free” (No. 7, 1996)
- “Heavy Things” (No. 2, 2000)
- “The Connection” (No. 2, 2004)
- “Backwards Down the Number Line” (No. 9, 2009)
Phish’s fan-driven success at the Sphere in Las Vegas (2024) proved they’re still one of the most powerful live acts around.
Will that fan energy translate into Hall of Fame glory?
Tune in April 27 to find out.
