Paul Weller, known as The Modfather, has officially announced the release of a new covers album titled Find El Dorado. The album is scheduled to drop on July 25 and will include 15 carefully selected tracks.
This upcoming release draws from a wide and eclectic mix of artists. Featured covers include songs by the Bee Gees, The Kinks, Richie Havens, Christy Moore, and The Flying Burrito Brothers. Other influences include White Plains, Brian Protheroe, and Duncan Browne.
“These are songs I’ve carried with me for years,” Weller said in a statement. “They’ve taken on new shapes over time. And now felt like the moment to share them.”
Find El Dorado is Weller’s first covers album since Studio 150, which released in 2004. That album included tracks by Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Noel Gallagher.
Several notable guest musicians appear on the new record. Contributions come from Noel Gallagher of Oasis and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin. Additional appearances include Hannah Peel, Declan O’Rourke, Amelia Coburn, and Seckou Keita.
To give fans a preview, Paul Weller has released two songs from the album. The first is “Lawdy Rolla,” originally released in 1969 by French group The Guerrillas. The second is “Pinball,” the title track from Brian Protheroe’s 1974 debut album.
The announcement arrives nearly one year after Weller’s previous record, 66, which dropped on May 24, 2024. That project launched just one day before his 66th birthday.
