Global Citizen has announced its first-ever festival in Brazil, with Brazilian superstars Anitta and Seu Jorge headlining the Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia. The event is scheduled for October 19, 2024, in Rio de Janeiro’s iconic Quinta da Boa Vista park.
The festival aims to spotlight South America’s environmental challenges, particularly those facing the Amazon rainforest. In addition to Anitta and Seu Jorge, Coldplay’s Chris Martin—who serves as curator of Global Citizen concerts—will participate in the show. More artists from both Brazil and around the world are expected to be announced in the coming months.
This marks Global Citizen’s continued expansion into Latin America, leveraging music and cultural influence to raise awareness and mobilize action around pressing global issues. The focus of the Brazil event will be fighting climate change, promoting Indigenous rights, and addressing global inequalities—especially those impacting communities in the Amazon region.
Attendance at the festival requires fans to take part in Global Citizen’s social impact campaigns. Participants can earn free tickets by engaging with online actions tied to the group’s advocacy missions. This model, used successfully in previous Global Citizen festivals in New York, Paris, and Johannesburg, is designed to drive direct fan engagement and measurable change.
Anitta’s involvement underscores the event’s alignment with youth culture and Brazil’s vibrant music scene. With millions of global followers, her presence is expected to elevate the festival’s visibility and influence.
The Global Citizen Festival: Amazonia further positions Brazil at the center of international environmental dialogue, while offering local fans the chance to experience a major global music event in their own backyard. Festival organizers have not yet announced information regarding livestreams or television broadcasts.
