DEAD POET SOCIETY ANNOUNCE NEW ALBUM MONARCH, OUT OCT. 2 VIA SPINEFARM RECORDS
Band Shares New Single “Cold” and Accompanying Video
Dead Poet Society will release their third album, Monarch, on October 2 via Spinefarm Records. The announcement arrives alongside the band’s new single, “Cold,” and an accompanying video directed by Dead Poet Society vocalist and guitarist Jack Underkofler with Blackwolf Imaging.

“People today are constantly performing for one another, competing for a place in social hierarchy,” drummer Will Goodroad shares. “We slowly reshape ourselves, cutting away parts of who we are to gain acceptance and validation. Over time, we lose touch with our passions, forget why we do what we do, and stop recognizing who we really are – or what we truly believe, if anything at all. ‘Cold’ is about recognizing that reality and choosing to indulge in it anyway.”
“Cold” follows the release of “Roach” and “Sinner Systems,” two tracks that offered an early glimpse of Monarch’s balance of weight, melody, and emotional intensity.
The new music has already earned praise from several major music outlets. Revolver described the material as “tense and knotted with danceable dread,” while Kerrang! called the songs “seething.” Consequence hailed the tracks as a “glorious success.”
Produced by Mutemath frontman Paul Meany, whose credits include Twenty One Pilots and Pierce The Veil, Monarch was mixed by GRAMMY Award-winning engineer Adam Hawkins, known for his work with Turnstile and Yungblud.
The album was recorded at Valley View Studios and The Park in Los Angeles.
“We wanted to carve out our own piece of territory,” Underkofler says of the band’s approach to writing Monarch. “I just wanted to swing for the fences with this one. All the things I felt made us, I wanted to see how much deeper I could go with them and try to boil down the essence of the feeling that makes Dead Poet Society who we are.”
Monarch builds on the foundation established by the band’s 2021 debut, -!-, and their 2024 album, FISSION. The new collection embraces contrasts between weight and melody, vulnerability and defiance, while continuing to expand the band’s distinctive sound.
Monarch is available for pre-order now in multiple formats, including limited-edition vinyl variants, CD, and digital editions. One vinyl edition includes an expanded booklet.
