Hayley Williams just turned up the summer heat. Over the weekend, the Paramore frontwoman quietly released 17 new solo tracks online.
Fans accessed the music via a code distributed by her Good Dye Young hair dye company. The code unlocked a minimalist website packed with MP3 links. Tracks range from raw acoustic ballads like “BloodBros” and “IWon’tQuitOnYou” to more experimental cuts like “IceInMyOJ.”
Standouts include the sunny “EDAABP,” the drum machine-backed “Hard,” and the confessional “KillMe.” On “Hard,” Williams reflects on identity and femininity with lyrics like:
“I got married once in combat losing / Only listen to testosterone music.”
The sound is homemade and intimate. Williams jumps between dreamy vocals and jagged edges, offering fans a window into personal and sonic exploration.
The site also features a “Misc” folder. Inside are a live performance clip from 2017 in Monterrey, Mexico, a T-shirt photo, handwritten lyrics, and a short audio snippet of a child’s voice saying, “I’m sorry that you’re going through something hard.”
Other song titles include “Whim,” “Zissou,” “DisappearingMan,” “Glum,” and “DreamGirlInShibuya.” One track, “DiscoveryChannel,” even nods to Bloodhound Gang’s infamous “The Bad Touch” chorus.
Williams hasn’t confirmed whether this release is a proper follow-up to her 2020 solo debut Petals for Armor or 2021’s Flowers for Vases/Descansos. But fans are already calling it her most raw and revealing solo material yet.
She’s also stayed active this year with collaborations. Earlier in 2024, she dropped “I Like It I Like It” with Moses Sumney. Last week, she debuted the new track “Mirtazapine” live with Bleachers at Newport Folk Festival.
No promo. No press release. Just Hayley, a password, and a pile of songs.
