Rock Legend Ozzy Osbourne Dies at 76: Tributes Pour In from Musicians Worldwide

Ozzy Osbourne, frontman of Black Sabbath, has died at the age of 76. His family announced the news on Tuesday, July 22. They did not share his cause of death in the statement. They wrote that Ozzy was “with his family and surrounded by love.” Osbourne died only weeks after playing his final concert in Birmingham. His death left musicians and fans worldwide stunned and grieving.

Metallica posted a throwback photo with Ozzy and a broken heart emoji. Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day wrote, “No words. We love you Ozzy.” Tom Morello of Rage Against the Machine shared a photo saying, “God bless you Ozzy.” Ronnie Wood of the Rolling Stones said he was “so very sad” at the news and praised Ozzy’s farewell concert at Back To The Beginning in Birmingham.

Elton John called him a “true legend” and “one of the funniest people” he knew. Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready said Ozzy’s voice transported him to a dark universe. Questlove posted a photo of Ozzy writing, “Long Live The Oz … Rest In Melody.” Gene Simmons of KISS said Ozzy was “admired and loved by millions of fans worldwide.”

Flavor Flav expressed heartbreak and shared photos with Ozzy, sending love to his family. Ice T simply wrote, “RIP Ozzy.” The Smashing Pumpkins posted a video of Billy Corgan praising Ozzy’s love of music. Jack White shared a black-and-white photo saying, “He made it.” Yungblud called him the “greatest of all time” in an emotional tribute. Drummer Matt Cameron wrote, “Rest in Power King Ozzy.”

PETA honored Ozzy’s gentle side towards animals. Ozzy performed just three weeks ago with Black Sabbath’s classic lineup. He is survived by his first wife Thelma Riley and their children. With Sharon, Ozzy had three children: Aimee, Jack, and Kelly Osbourne. Kelly got engaged to Slipknot’s Sid Wilson at Black Sabbath’s final show.
